WyomingSlick Report post Posted January 22, 2010 I agree, nice tooling!! Just a thought though! A lot of people use optical mice nowdays which need a textured surface to work well. Is there enough natural texture in the leather grain pattern for them to work? I myself use a trackball mouse so I don't have a way to test this. Anybody have any experiance along this line of thought?
bruce johnson Report post Posted January 23, 2010 I have had a few optical mice, and they do alright on leather. Mine read on a varnished wood desktop too. The only place I have had problems are some of the motel room desks with a glass top.

The only place I have had problems are some of the motel room desks with a glass top. Thanks for the info, Bruce. I had wondered about the optical mice picking up on the grain of the leather or not. Never have owned an optical mouse myself since I have been a confirmed trackball user since long before optical mice came along. Never have understood why trackballs are not more popular since it is much easier to navigate by moving the ball with just your thumb versus moving the whole mouse with your arm.
