Bob A Report post Posted February 14, 2010 Hoping you guys can help me out with this. What products are safe/good to use on the interior of holster to smooth and condition the leather? What should be avoided because it will damage a gun finish or otherwise just not good for the holster? If this info is already on the board somewhere please direct me to it. Thanks Bob
Denster Report post Posted February 14, 2010 If it is important to you to have a really smooth interior, make a lined holster. Use 3/4OZ for the interior and 5/6OZ for the exterior glued flesh side to flesh side. That gives a total weight of 8/9OZ adjust accordinglly if you want heavier. BillinOK Report post Posted February 15, 2010 I line just about all holsters that I make unless the customer doesn't want it. I use Lexol and I also use neats foot oil. That said, I've noticed some other preps here on the forum and I would like to try those also. The lexol does pretty good at conditioning. Neats foot is good also. Bob A Report post Posted February 15, 2010 Thanks for the replies. I have some neatsfoot and lexol that I'll give a try and see how that goes. I've been thinking about trying to do a lined holster , Are there any issues with wet forming with the layered leather?
