PPounder Report post Posted February 14, 2010 Hey Folks, Jan Schoonover, know for his amazing embossed leather pictures, is willing to come to Pittsburgh to teach a two-day, hands on, intensive class IF we can get at least 10 students to take the class. The dates will be a Saturday & Sunday in June, yet to be determined. And the cost will be approximately $200 per student. We are thinking of either doing a wolf or a bear. The Pitt Pounders Leather Guild is happy to have Jan come to share his skills and expertise, and we would love to open this class to anyone as interested in learning what Jan has to teach as we are. If you are one of those interested people, please let me know ASAP so that plans can be finalized. Thanks! Chris
ClayB Report post Posted February 14, 2010 Good for you Chris on trying to get this going. I know Jan wanted to go that direction a few years ago when you held the IFOLG show out there. I really hope you can line up enough people to make the class a reality. Jan is a great teacher and I think anyone that attends a class with him will learn a lot. I'm excited to be headed to Billings to spend a couple weeks with him the first part of March to learn how he did his grizzly bear that sticks out 6 inches. PPounder Report post Posted March 6, 2010 Class dates have been picked for Jan's embossing class: June 26th & 27th. Although the exact location has yet to be determined, we are looking at classrooms about 25 miles north of Pittsburgh. Please let me know if you want to take part in this great learning opportunity. Thanks! Chris Kearns
ClayB Report post Posted May 8, 2010 Just a reminder that there is still time to sign up for this class. It will be a great opportunity for people out east to get a chance to learn from a master. This could very possibly be the last time Jan will be traveling to that part of the country, so don't pass up the chance if you are interested in learning some of his techniques for extreme embossing. PPounder Report post Posted June 10, 2010 Bad news Folks, The Jan Schoonover Class we planned has been canceled. For various reasons a number of folks had to drop out of the show, leaving us with not enough students to make Jan's drive from Montana to Pittsburgh a financially wise decision. Jan is still willing to come out at some point. We just need to have enough students. Thank you to all who signed up. We will try to bring Jan here again. Thanks, Chris Kearns
