Cheers, it's oiled tanned soft calf. Alright TT, no a fellow Scot living in Germany made the cantle and tassles from wood sourced in Scotland. When are we getting to see your sporran? Quote
Members bentley Posted February 17, 2010 Members Report Posted February 17, 2010 OK, curiosity got the best of me so I had to look up sporran, a little older and wiser today. The Sporran (Scottish Gaelic for 'purse') is a traditional part of Scottish Highland dress. It is a pouch that performs the same function as pockets on the pocketless Scottish kilt. Nice looking sporran. Quote
Members LawDawg Posted April 29, 2010 Members Report Posted April 29, 2010 That is some fine work Lad ! I have six designs of sporrans and using wood for your cantle is ingenious. If you want it ornamental, get ahold of Jason Hawks in Arizona. He and his father are two of the finest carvers I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Jason is an excellent resource for knives and daggers as well. I believe they moved to Arivaca. His number is 928-863-8454. He is a free spirit, and works as a Tactical tracking instructor, but finds the time for his art. Daniel Quote
