Cyrex Report post Posted February 23, 2010 Hey everyone. Wow.. I think I already started posting in the wrong area. I'm off to a great start! Anyway, I just got into leather crafting a few months ago and I absolutely love it. My original goal was to make myself one cue case but from the moment I sat down and started trying to do tooling it just felt right, and fun, and incredibly relaxing. I'm hooked for sure. I'm definitely inspired by everything and trying to learn as much as possible. This site sure is a wealth of knowledge! I don't want to keep babbling.. so I'll post up some pictures of a cue case I'm working on... I really wanted to do something different and challenging (to me) with lots of tooling and color dying. This is the outer piece of a cue case that wraps around a hard shell interior. I'll post pictures in the gallery section once I get it all together and completed. Thanks! Cyrex Report post Posted February 23, 2010 Thanks for the very kind words! I used the Eco Flow water based colors from Tandy. I reduced them down with water trying to avoid the thick paint look. But there is only so much you can do and still keep the colors bold. Actually, out here in California it's pretty much the only dyes we can use. Fiebing just introduced an alcohol/acetone out here last week with a low VOC which I'm pretty excited about. It dries completely in 15 minutes and looks great. I'm going to do some color testing with it this week. Maybe post it as a product review or something. Best wishes, Rex
