Members Penden Posted March 11, 2010 Members Report Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) I was playing and got this. Dyed it british tan first then put some black dye on a sponge and let it mostly dry, then rubbed that in for the overlay. I like two-toned effects like this and am still learning. What do you think? http://twitpic.com/17xfh3 Edited March 11, 2010 by Penden Quote
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted March 11, 2010 Contributing Member Report Posted March 11, 2010 I like that mottled effect, too, but your best work is those little cheeks in the next photo Quote "Observation is 9/10 of the law." IF what you do is something that ANYBODY can do, then don't be surprised when ANYBODY does.

I'll be trying this effect again with some different colors, later. If I learn about anything similar I'll try that too at the same time Quote
Members Penden Posted March 12, 2010 Author Members Report Posted March 12, 2010 Ok, I did some tests. All we have to test with right now are different browns and black (that red color is a red brown). So if some of them look remarkably the same... that's because they are. I numbered them in the photos. I do like #2 and #3 which are both the british tan with darker brown on top instead of black. I think I hate #6 which... ... See MoreSee More was medium brown with black overlay. #4 is the same as the #1 you guys saw earlier but with a lot less black. #5 is cordovan on medium brown http://twitpic.com/183rx9 http://twitpic.com/183rzy http://twitpic.com/183s1w Also for some reason on another forum it seems like a lot of people did not like my first test colors. I don't know if they would like them if they saw them on an actual project. Quote
