Members Curious Cat Posted March 11, 2010 Members Report Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) Hi, I make small items, keyrings, jewellery, bookmarks etc. As these are quite flexible I'm using resolene as a finish. This works fine on dye, but trying to apply with a damp sponge over stain I end up dragging off the colour. Does anyone have any tips? Thanks! cj Edited March 11, 2010 by Curious Cat Quote
Members iwannabeacowboy Posted March 12, 2010 Members Report Posted March 12, 2010 I've used this for finish coats. http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/home/department/Liquids-N/2091-00.aspx?feature=Product_1 they work pretty good for being so simple. Other option would be air brushing, but that costs more money for equipment. charlie Quote I'm never to old to learn about all the things life brings along.
Members joshk Posted March 12, 2010 Members Report Posted March 12, 2010 i've had the same problem and tried the Preval sprayers from Tandy.... i was not very happy with the spray they threw out.... it seemed to almost texture the resolene.... i was able to find a cheap airbrush air pump on craigslist and bought a $15 HVLP detail sprayer from Harbor Freight and have had great success with that combo.... i'd say it's a small investment for saving yourself many headaches.... If you've had success with it I may give it a try. Members katsass Posted March 14, 2010 Members Report Posted March 14, 2010 Hi Cat, this is the spray rig I got from Harbor Freight. The air brush is cheap enough to get 2 sets, and the nice thing is that you can quick change from one substance to another without having to clean everything first. Not as adjustable as better ones but they have worked well for me for quite a while. For around $60.00 total, it's not a bad setup. Quote NOTE TO SELF: Never try to hold a cat and an operating Dust buster at the same time!! At my age I find that I can live without sex..........but not without my glasses. Being old has an advantage.......nobody expects me to do anything in a hurry.
