Members steve mason Posted March 19, 2010 Members Report Posted March 19, 2010 howdy; I have flower carved for over 20 years but I have never done any figure carving, I have a couple saddle orders coming up that call for a humming bird and a dragon fly. I did a test humming bird and I am somewhat satisfied with the results with the exception being the beek, not sure yet how to get the best effect on that. I am not asking for a pattern but I would like to see some photos of figure carved birds and dragonflys for some inspiration. thanks much] Steve Quote
Members skyout Posted March 19, 2010 Members Report Posted March 19, 2010 (edited) Here's a couple of links to dragonflies. http://leatherworker...t=0entry55331 http://leatherworker...t=0entry25644 I remember seeing a bird recently but I think it had a knife going thru it (back side of a motorcycle seat???) but couldn't find it. Here are 2 I found using the search function. http://leatherworker...=0entry142793 http://leatherworker...=0entry126037 I'm sure there are more in the gallery, but I found these from ClayB which I though were great! JMO http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?app=gallery&module=images§ion=viewimage&img=6530 Hope these help. Rick skyout Edited March 19, 2010 by skyout Quote
Contributing Member ClayB Posted March 20, 2010 Contributing Member Report Posted March 20, 2010 Silva has pictures of both dragonflies and humming birds on her website. You can see them here. Quote
yaklady Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 Here's a humming bird I did. This one is embossed applique, but you can get the right idea from it. Quote
Contributing Member TwinOaks Posted March 25, 2010 Contributing Member Report Posted March 25, 2010 It might be kinda tiny to look at, but I've got one for my avatar. If you need it blown up, lemme know. Quote
