Members Jin w Posted April 5, 2010 Members Report Posted April 5, 2010 Hi Guy's. I'm trying to braid dog leash for my first braiding project, and was wondering where do you get your core and what type of core do you use. Thank you. Jin W Quote
Members KnotHead Posted April 5, 2010 Members Report Posted April 5, 2010 I use different cores for different sizes of dogs. The toy and mini type dogs I use just the 550 cord as a core. Anything medium to large scale dogs I will usually braid a 4 strand round core out of some scrap kangaroo with each of those strands cut to about 3/8th to 5/8th inches in width for added strength. Members megabit Posted April 6, 2010 Members Report Posted April 6, 2010 I did a leash for my wife and used 550 cord for the core. My dog is fairly good sized but I don't think he will be breaking the leash. Oh did I mention I covered the core with 8 strands of rawhide, I think my hand would come off before the leash broke. I don't think I ever posted any pictures of the leash, I'll have to see about taking some pics to put up here. Quote
