Leather Ink Report post Posted June 27, 2010 (edited) We've all been at the beginning before and when you're learning try not to compare your work to others too much. You said you were happy the way it turned out, then be happy and next time try to improve one or two things each time you do it. My first time I carved what was supposed to be a flower and it looked like a muttled piece of poo. Edited June 27, 2010 by Leather Ink
Ironwood Report post Posted June 28, 2010 I haven't tried doing any carving yet. Hope my second attempt looks as good as yours. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
Luke Hatley Report post Posted June 28, 2010 for a second attempt you are on the right road. I would suggest that you buy the book at Tandy "Craft Tool Tech Tips". this will help you out a lots..... keep on tooling and you will become an expert. skippy Report post Posted June 28, 2010 thanks guys, its actually quite a rewarding hobby.just finished dying it a dark tan and im suprised how it seems to highlight the camoflauged areas,i always thought those areas were dyed with a darker dye but apparently not. ill be cleaning the edges tommorow then i will attempt resolening it all ( apparently the damp sponge is best for this). i may well look for the tandy book....and get some more stamps as i need a smaller beveler and a gauge cutter. thanks for the positive comments. skippy
