RunningRoan Report post Posted August 29, 2010 Anyone know where to find different colors of angora besides white and black? I've seen finished products using beautiful brown angora and I'd like to try some of that. I've also seen multi-colored angora like this: Was this dyed or do these colors occur naturally? Any tips on dying angora?
Casey Jordan Report post Posted August 29, 2010 Good luck on finding any color except black or white. I have seen other colors, but they are hard to find. The picture of the "Pinto Woolies" are made with plugs. You cut out a circle from the back side and replace it with a different color angora. You have to sew in the plug from the back side. I make my miniature pinto woolies this way. As far as dying angora, I have not done that before, but I have dyed Islandic Sheep with Rit dye (Orange) and it worked pretty well. Made the skin a little stiff when it dried though. Hope this helps a little!

Will also try to Rit dye to make brown...I have a feeling that's the only what I'm going to get that color angora. Thanks a bunch!!
BIGGUNDOCTOR Report post Posted August 30, 2010 Have you looked on any of the fiber/spinning/weaving forums? We have some fiber folks on the blacksmithing forum, so they are out there.
