Thread Troubles?

I'm just curious if anyone has ever gotten a bad spool of thread before, is that even possible?

My white thread 277 top/207 bottom, works just super... my black thread, same sizes, gives me trouble every time I try it and I am using the same leather thickness etc....

Switch to white, works perfect, switch to black.... it twists up about the needle and meeses up the whole project. It also looks almost waxed once sewn! It is not clean and nice (after stitching) as the white is. It has the appearance (only after stitching) that it's waxy.

Anyone else ever get this issue?

The same thing has happened to me, with black bonded nylon, which was not properly bonded. They are bad batches. I usually relegate those spools to bobbin use only, or give them away. If you bought them from a reputable dealer, ask about an exchange.

BTW, this can happen to any thread manufacturer. I bought several spools of Linhanyl thread and one of the black spools isn't solidly bonded. It is good enuf for use in the bobbin, but not on top. Another spool bought at the same time is just fine.

I wonder now if it may have something to do with the black dye?

That sounds like the problem!! Thanks for the reply! Yes, it almost looks like it's stripping of wax as it feeds through the needle! I'll get in touch with my pusher! :-)
