My Ugly Mug!

My first mug! The crest is the Polish eagle.

My dad asked me to make this for a friend of his in Poland, who happens to love hand made gifts. Never done one of these before since they are technicly not period for me. I'm really pretty pleased with how it came out!

My concern is how the handle is done-flat . It will tend to fold if any weight is applied to the mug. Handles are usually done on edge in order to get more rigidity.

Actually the process of dipping the mug in the melted wax causes the leather to stiffen to the point where it is like a really hard plastic. I've been using a mug with a flat handle like this for years and it's never bent even when the mug is full of a tasty home brewed ale.
