Members hivemind Posted September 17, 2010 Members Report Posted September 17, 2010 I have a customer who wants some armor, but he wants it based on white leather, and I'm having a hell of a time sourcing some. I don't care at all about the finish (smooth, suede, whatever) and I don't even care what animal it comes from, I just need some 6 ounce white leather with minimal stretch (so something like deerskin is probably out). I tried my local place, D&L Leather in Utica, and I called SB's Trading Post, no luck either place - in fact they were more discouraging. Seems like white leather gets used in golf shoes, purses and Native ceremonial dress and not much else. Any ideas? Quote
Members busted Posted September 17, 2010 Members Report Posted September 17, 2010 You might try Triple C Leather Morgantown, Ky. They have white in chrome tan I have about 2 or 3 sq foot piece. triplecleather.com Quote
Members Randy Cornelius Posted September 18, 2010 Members Report Posted September 18, 2010 I have bought white crome tan from Hide House but it's not near 6 oz more like a 3-4. Quote
King's X Posted September 18, 2010 Report Posted September 18, 2010 I just saw about two or three sides of white chrome tan with a nice top finish. It wasn't nothing too bad. I believe they were on clearance for $39.99 a side. They also had a soft pink for anyone looking. I was looking for some turqouise or gold for a friend wanting a filigreed journal cover. It is the Tandy Leather Factory in Austin Texas 512-302-4440. Ask for Audrey or Dennis when you call. I hope this helps! Quote
Members Casey Jordan Posted September 18, 2010 Members Report Posted September 18, 2010 I think I have the majority of a side of white chap leather. I used it to make motercycle bags and a pair of chaps. It's probably 6-7oz with very minimal stretch. If your interested I will dig it out and make sure how much is left. Quote
Members BOB BRENNER Posted September 18, 2010 Members Report Posted September 18, 2010 Try 5/6 oz orthopedic elk from Goliger Leather. 1-800-423-2329. A little pricey at $5.50+ per sq ft but meets your specifications. Bob Quote
Members hivemind Posted September 19, 2010 Author Members Report Posted September 19, 2010 Thanks for the responses guys. I finally found some sides of 6oz chrome tanned white at Zack White Leather for $80 apiece. Quote

Not sure, but I think it's stiff, so it would be better for armor. Quote

Members hivemind Posted October 12, 2010 Author Members Report Posted October 12, 2010 So back on 18 September I bought a side of the above mentioned white leather from Zack White Leather. I have not yet received any leather. PayPal says they got their money. I have emailed them twice now with no response, and I can't call them except after hours, and you can't leave them a message. Anyone know an email other than sales@zackwhite.com I can try? I think if I don't get some kind of response by tomorrow, I'll have to start a chargeback. Quote
