Members Garange Posted December 21, 2010 Members Report Posted December 21, 2010 I've been building holsters for all the Glock models for a couple of years and would like to expand into the 1911 models. With all of the different 1911 models and styles I'm looking for some advice on what model of dummy gun I might start out with. I know that some can be used with others but would like a starting point. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. Gary Quote
Members ShortBBL Posted December 21, 2010 Members Report Posted December 21, 2010 I'd start with the most common.... Blue Guns full size 1911. Add other after that..... commander sized etc. Quote

Members Fredo Posted December 29, 2010 Members Report Posted December 29, 2010 I have to agree, full size 1911, then onto the smaller versions. I have a ful size 1911 (real gun) I'm going to buy the officers sized S&W dummy next. Actualy dummy guns are almost as adicting as leather working so I plan to buy everyone I can before the wife sees the credit card bill Quote
Members particle Posted December 29, 2010 Members Report Posted December 29, 2010 The majority of my orders over the last year are for 1911's, and most of those are for the 4.25" barrel, followed by 5", then 3", then 4" with a few 3.5" and one or two 3.9". I'm pulling this from memory, but the 4.25" by far is the most common I build for. Not sure which dummy that'd be - I just use my stainless Dan Wesson CBOB, though I probably need to buy a dummy for it... Quote
