JJLeatherworks Report post Posted December 31, 2010 Hi! Welcome aboard! I have learned a lot from these folks on the forum. I see that you are near San Antonio. Have you hooked up with the classes at the Walzem Rd Tandy store? Fred Pheil conducts the classes there on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays starting at 10 AM. $10.00 a class. Fred is a expert at making holsters and belts and you can learn a lot from him. I think he has about 60 years of experience. New guy here and to the leather world in general. Spent plenty of time working steel and wood, but leather is a whole different animal... I could use all the help I can get!
Chief31794 Report post Posted December 31, 2010 Welcome aboard, if you like to travel some or just happen to get near Fort Worth, do two things, eat a steak at H3, and go the the Al Stohlman museum at the TLC just off I-820. I live in Georgia but go to Texas often, this is the "main" store for Tandy and the museum is a natural treasure. Ken

I have been going to the Tandy Store on Walzem, and I can tell you from a novices point of view, Fred is a great teacher, and a great person. If you can make it up hopefully wer will see you at the classes. Just wanted to add be aware that the store location is changing from Walzem road to I-35 and Weidner in San Antonio sometime in January 2011.
