Members SimonJester753 Posted January 11, 2011 Members Report Posted January 11, 2011 I made my dog some collars and a harness from latigo leather. What should I use to clean it, saddle soap? I've treated the leather with mink oil and Aussie conditioner, then rubbed it with beeswax. Quote
Members SimonJester753 Posted January 14, 2011 Author Members Report Posted January 14, 2011 I've been looking on the internet. Some say glycerin soap and water. Others say saddle soap is BAD for leather. They also say use oil, while others say oil is bad. So what do you clean leather with? How do you treat leather that will be out in the weather? Quote
Members roo4u Posted January 15, 2011 Members Report Posted January 15, 2011 well i would use saddle soap rinse thoroughly allow to dry, then apply a conditioner...neatsfoot oil could be used but may leave residue on your dog. plus over oiling is not good for the leather. i like lexol non oil conditioner for stuff that i feel doesnt really need oil. for instance if leather is in good condition but i removed surface soil with soap, then i use the non oil conditioner.
