Members johnggrg Posted January 28, 2011 Members Report Posted January 28, 2011 Ok finished my first holster not great but here it is. Made from 8-9 oz veg tan leather. I used fiebling's medium brown dye which turned out alot darker then I wanted but oh well. Then added some fiebling's edge kote. Then added some netsfoot oil and sat over night. Then followed up with a couple coats of some Eco-Flo satin sheen. I made alot of mistakes along the way but learned alot to. One being I didn't add a hold down strap. I will only be using this when hunting going from cabin to blind and back. It fits nice and tight right now so it should be fine for what I am using it for. One time a year use. But still the mistake is there. Then not knowing when to stop and leave it alone I added some stamps to it 'big mistake'. where the two stamps are on the bottom left you can see one is a square and the other is like an arrow. I had added another arrow stamp above the square stamp and it double stamped. Well to hide this I flattened that whole area around the two stamps. That did not totaly hide the arrow stamp. So I used a back ground stamp and went over the whole area and that worked to hide it. Then used a corner stamp on both sides of the opening. Of course messed up on that to. The corner that was not part of the stamp hit the leather and made a corner mark. So flattened it as much as I could and laid out the square lines you see where the pistol goes. Worked so so. I would like to say I think I have a new hobby. i really enjoyed working on this project and will try to keep learning what I can. I would like to thank everyone who helped me along the way with my questions and concerns. I am not sure how to add pictures and am going to try to do it. Hope they turn out. I tried to look this up in the search area and nothing came up. I did see a recent post with a link for just that but the link did not work. So here goes. Quote
