simran Report post Posted February 14, 2011 I just put in an order with SLC this morning. I'd never heard of them before and they had all of what I was looking for to complete a project I'm going to start once all the findings get here. I ordered the canvas from elsewhere but everything else they had in stock. The y have some kind of membership program whereby you save a percentage on every order from them. I bowed out this time even though the person taking my order told me I'd be passing up $14.00 in savings on this order alone. However, like I told the young lady on the phone, I have no idea what kind of quality they are going to send me. I haven't bought any leather in years. When I closed my shop I kept all the leather I had and over the years been using it up on projects. It's getting to the point where all I have is scraps lying around. I am making a backpack for my #2 son as a gift for completing his Eagle Scout project. It is something he'll have and use for years to come and I didn't want to use scraps to make it. Anyway, my experience on the phone with Springfield Leather was a good one; we'll see what kind of quality the findings are they send to customers. Sim I'm waiting on my first order from them to arrive as well. The phone conversations I've had with them has been very friendly. I'm expecting everything to be fine, cause I've never heard anything negative about them.

Billy P Report post Posted February 15, 2011 Sim, most of the stuff I order I get from Kevin at Springfield Leather. I believe, as Ferg said, you'll be plesantly supprised. I have the wholesale account, and have found that it pays for itself pretty quick. I have neveer gotten anything that was not right from them. Billy P Ps/ They also carry most of the Tandy stuff and Hidecrafter, and at a better price. BRP
simran Report post Posted February 15, 2011 I'm glad I got all the positive feedback on Springfield Leather. They called me later this afternoon and told me they would not be able to complete my order; they were shy one hide I wanted. I asked them if there was anything else that may make a good stand in for what I ordered (it was a color matching issue). They assured me that what I'd ordered would be the only real good match available but I'd have to wait until they got it back in stock. I felt pretty confident that they were trying to do the right thing and not send me something I couldn't use; or was a poor match. So they'll send what they have and the hide in question will be a week behind it. Not a deal breaker for me anyway. Sim
GrampaJoel Report post Posted February 15, 2011 I have order from Springfield and have has great service. Once I bought a side of leather they had on sale on their web site just on impulse. When the leather got to my place I opened the box and somehow a great big smile grew on my face. It was a beautiful side of leather. I made some chaps with it. A customer saw the leather and bought the chaps and used them as a wall decoration in their home. They don't even ride horses. Joel

Spinner Report post Posted February 15, 2011 The folks at Springfield are great. I use their Kangaroo lace quite a bit and it's always been good quality. I have a business account with them and the pricing is very good. They also carry some items I had trouble finding locally like Fiebing White and Grey dyes. Only had one mistake on one order out of many (wrong color lace was sent) but one phone call to them and they had the right one shipped quickly and included a return label for the incorrect lace with no hassle. jagt48 Report post Posted March 16, 2011 I visited my folks last weekend and had to drive through Springfield, so I stopped by. I am very new to leather working and everyone there proved to offer plenty of advice. A couple of the women there took the time to explain in detail the answers to my questions even though they were packed. As far as i could tell the leather all looked very nice, and there was lots of it. There were some scrap pieces that i was rummaging though for some projects and they made sure to point out some minor imperfections that I wouldn't have even noticed.
