Members Julius Posted February 18, 2011 Members Report Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) I am planning on making my first few wallets etc. I was wondering what's the best type of leather to go about doing this? I know I should aim for 3 / 4 oz leather. Where I'm stumped is veg tanned tooling/carving leather or veg tanned skirting leather? I am planning on ordering from W&C. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Edited February 18, 2011 by Julius Quote

Skirting leather is for saddles and mostly comes in weights above 12oz. I'm unfamiliar with W&C, so it could be it's a different tannage if they're offering it in lesser weights, but it's probably the same thing. Quote
