Remembering Login

Recommended Posts

I'm having to login to the forum every time I visit even though I've checked remember me. I double checked my settings and I'm keeping cookies until they expire so I don't believe thats the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Use the "delete the cookies from this board" down on the main page, right hand side towards the bottom. Close IE and try it again. Let me know if you still have problems, and I'll zap your account.

Also check to see if you have anything set to automatically clear all cookies, temp files, etc. when you close. Moz. Firefox has such an option, and sure enough, when you close the browser, it deletes everything you've looked at in that session. Not sure if IE has that feature or not.

Formerly, I would go straight to leatherworker.net/forum, and having checked remember me, all I had to do was type in the first letter "w", and the rest would pop up. Somewhere along the line though, that stopped happening. HOWEVER, I find that if I go to leatherworker.net and then click on the forum link, it still works. Still quicker than typing in my name and password, so I just do that.

Well I deleted all the leatherworker.net cookies. I also made sure that I wasn't clearing cookies on exit. Currently it holds my login until I close my browser which is a step up from what it use to do. Previously I would login then go to another site and when I came back I'd have to login again.

I'm using firefox and I've got it set to keep cookies until they expire. After looking at the cookies it seems that the one holding my userid isn't set to expire until a year from my last login. However the cookie containing the password hash expires when it was created. Is that normal?

Normal? I guess so, but I kinda swap back and forth on IE and firefox, so I don't really remember all the details. I believe it's a security measure, and a good one if you're in a multiuser environment with shared terminals. It does slow things down a bit for single users though. I'll play around with my version and see if I can find anything out for you.

OOOOkay....I am NOT the right person to go messing with firefox settings. However, I did determine that closing my browser does eliminate any history (from the address bar) and password. I'll presume that you don't want the program to remember your password for the bookmark. [tools tab, options, security] Personally, I don't allow password rememberance, form fill, or anything that would grant access to someone using my computer- but then I've been accused of being paranoid too.
