Members nopension Posted March 17, 2011 Members Report Posted March 17, 2011 Hello! I wonder if anybody has used Fiebings Dura edge ? Quote
Members wvcraftsman Posted March 17, 2011 Members Report Posted March 17, 2011 I bought the black to try it. It's ok. It says you don't have to do anything to the edge but put the dura edge on it. Not the case. You still have to burnish the edges to get them smooth, then I have yet to get the finish like it shows in the picture. The best edge finishing process is by far the one written by Hidepounder. I haven't had it on anything long enough to know how well the finish will last. Quote

Members Skald Posted May 8, 2011 Members Report Posted May 8, 2011 Borrowing this thread. Different methods and tutorials for getting nice edges are not always possible to use for all projects. I am looking for some gum/rubber-like compound to seal edges, where no burnishing etc. is possible. It's for a wallet, made out of rather thin material - all-in-all, the edge is probably not even 2 mm before the "mysterious ciompound" have been applied. I am trying to make a wallet similar to a Timberland wallet I have, and this strange compound on the edges have lasted for more than 4 years now, and other parts of the wallet are starting to "give in" before these gum/rubber/silicone covered edges.
