Hi guys,

I've been thinking of making up a few leather belts but was wondering which cut of leather is best to use? Double shoulder? Butt? Or something else?

If I'm lining the belt as well, should the lining be from the same cut i.e. both belt and liner be from butt etc?

Thanks,

Simon

The butt closest to the tail. A piece called a 'culatta' are sold specifically to belt makers for this purpose. Any supplier worth their salt should have a good idea as to what cut is best for belts.
