JohnBarton Report post Posted June 6, 2011 So here is my dilemma. I put up all of our cases that we do as an ongoing portfolio of what we have done. Some of the cases are unique and then another customer comes along and wants something similar. What do you do? I make them another version but try to never copy any case exactly except for the very basic ones.
dirtclod Report post Posted June 6, 2011 I do a few one off pieces and like you i don't do them again. But i think it's all right to do one similar but different. Might even ask the first customer if it would be all right to do a similar one before i did it, espically if they paid big bucks to have a one off piece. Spinner Report post Posted June 7, 2011 Depends on what the client pays for in my opinion. I have a couple of "stock" designs that I have done like soaring eagles, skulls, etc. that I offer up if the client just wants something on their bib and isn't looking to really go custom or pay for it. If a client pays extra for a full custom piece and they and I are involved in designing it specifically for their bike then it's one off and the pattern is filed away. I'll do something similar in style but won't replicate a truly custom tooling.
