I have seen several old time cavesons hanging in barns, and even in Al Dunnings Western Horseman Reining book. Looking for a tutorial on how to tie barrel knots (if this is the correct name) in three strand rope.

Thanks

Ben

Barrel Knots are also known as Blood Knots.

Blood Knots are commonly used in the cracker of a whip. Very simple knot but I don't have a tute. Maybe Bevan can join this thread with an answer.

http://killroys.com/knots/barrel-knot-or-blood-knot/ Try this site if this is the knot your looking for. It shows how to ty it. If it's not post a picture of the knot your wanting to ty.

I was going to just post the same link rawhide1. I've used that knot fishing and various times to splice 2 ropes together.

You guys are fast. lol

Here are some links that may help. This is actually for bending two lines together whereas whipmakers tie it as an end knot???
