Fold Caused Leather To Crack...?

Hello everyone, Still a little new to this. I just cut out a piece of leather for a holster. I folded it over so I could sand the perimiter sides fluch. I noted a small crack caused by the fold. The leather is newly bought from Tandys. The best quality I could find for what I know anyway. I assume it was too dry to manage the fold. Do I put a conditioner on it prior to cutting it? Just wet it?....what do I do to keep this from happening again? Any help would be much appreciated. They dont give the leather away!!!

First, you need to cut a V groove on the inside of your fold, miosten the leather and make your fold.

You need to wet your leather first before you bend it. When I make an Avenger style holster, which is what I assume you are trying to make, I take a wet sponge and dampen the exterior grain side a little, then apply a liberal amount of moisture to the flesh side with my sponge. This should prevent the leather from cracking.
