Box Alarm Leather Report post Posted August 11, 2011 I have the opportunity to buy a Landis 5 in 1 at a pretty good price but have some questions about it... If I want it to cut a 1 1/4" strap, is there an adjustment "stop" or anything in the belly that gets it just the right width? Also, I notice some rollers on top of it... are there adapters that will "crease" borders in the strap? or are those rollers for something else. I believe I heard that it will bevel strap edges... if so, how does that work? I would really like for it to easily cut different width straps and to crease borders into the straps and bevel the edges, as that is what I would use it for most... Thanks in advance for any help. Art Report post Posted August 11, 2011 Box, The 5 in 1 is a shoe machine. It was designed to work with 12 or so iron or less shoe soling leather. It can Cut leather with the round cutters on the end of the horn, the long thing that sticks out on the other side from the crank. There is no fence involved here so you have to eyeball it. There should be a table there that gets broken off somewhere in the lifetime of the 5 in 1. Where you see the rollers, there are knives for skiving, heel trimming, edge beveling, and the lever on top works the welt roller that presses the glued welt down on the outsole before stitching. To get what you really want you need the Tippmann embosser/cutter/roller which will do exactly what you want. Art Report post Posted August 11, 2011 The Tippmann is just like what you were describing. If you can, pass on the lead on the 5 in 1, some of the shoe guys on this forum may need one. Art Thanks Art, I think I'll hold off and save up for the Tippman..
