Members JohnnyDingus Posted June 11, 2008 Members Report Posted June 11, 2008 I just won a Tippmann Boss on Auction (actually I have to pay for it) at e-bay. Not having used one before I am wondering what size thread to get for the different leathers I will be sewing together. Mostly I am going to concentrate on cowboy style belts and holsters so I am thinking it will be between 7oz and total of 12oz leather. Any suggestions would be appreciated except to get rid of it and get a powered machine. This is going to be my first atempt at sewing with a machine. Oh by the way it is an older cast iron one that has been rebuilt by tippmann. Also what is the difference between the chisel point needles and the round point that Tippmann sells? Thanks for any replys. JohnnyDingus aka vince Quote
Ambassador Luke Hatley Posted June 11, 2008 Ambassador Report Posted June 11, 2008 (edited) Johnny, in my Tippmann i use 277 on the top and 207 in the bobbin. this is for thicker leather. if i am sewing 6 to 8 oz i will use 207 on the top.......... the chisel point needle is used for sewing leather and the round point i use for nylon straps... Happy sewing...........my tippimann has a 3 digget # and it is below #500.......... Edited June 11, 2008 by Luke Hatley Quote Luke
