Using Foot Press To Set Copper Rivets

I have a Weaver Hand Press for line 24 snaps, etc but I'd like to have dies made to set copper rivets. Does anyone know if this is possible with a press? I'd imagine a foot press / kick press would have enough power to set a solid copper rivet. Also, I'd like to get dies for grommets and to punch holes in leather etc.

Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

I might be wrong, but I don't see how a kick press would do anything but bend copper rivets. I think you would need some impact or at least some wierd ultrasonic vibration to peen them.

I don´t think a foot press has the power for setting the rivet and absolutely not for peening the rivet!

Thanks for the help guys, I'm re-thinking all of this now. I'd really like to figure out a way to not hand-hammer copper rivets anymore. i do a lot and it's getting really tiring.

While I'm happy to set the rivets by hand, it may be theoretically possible to peen them with something like a small hammer drill with a suitable setter attached to it. This would be an exercise for some innovative thinker to experiment with! They say

that necessity is the mother of invention!

I have tried that and it worked, but all I have is a big hammer drill and it was just too cumbersome. I haven't been obsessed enough to continue experimentation, as I mostly set 14s and 12s on brass plates and if you get in a hurry you bend the rivet or scratch the plate.
