Highlands858 Report post Posted November 25, 2011 Hey folks, any tips on burnishing the edges of sharkskin, or should I do it exactly like cowhide? I plan to trim a pancake holster with sharkskin so the edges will all be exposed as opposed to an inlay. Thanks!
JoelR Report post Posted December 16, 2011 Due to the fiberous nature of shark and the like, I soak in some Feibings Edge Dye Finish along the edges before gluing down. Takes about 4 good coats to fully saturate the fibers and it helps to compress the edges with a hand roller once the dye/finish is dry and before gluing to the backing leather. Glue, trim, and burnish as usual.
