A Couple Gun Belt Questions

Recommended Posts

I am going to add casual dress gun belts to my line and have been making some practice ones and have come up with an issue. I have been using Hidepounder's method of edges for all my products and with the holsters I have had no issues as I think the heating after the wet mold stiffens it enough that its no problem but on the belts I've noticed that the buckle tends to rough up the edge after just a few uses and the natural brown is starting to show through the black edge a bit. Does someone have a better way of doing the edges so this doesn't happen? Should I use a spirit based dye on the edges rather that oil based to try and get more penetration? Or am I just doing something wrong here? I appreciate any feedback on this, thanks in advance..

I've noticed that most 1.5" buckles are better suited for the 1.4" belt blanks.
