stallion Report post Posted December 8, 2011 I recently bought a consew 239 industrial sewing machine. I have watched several "how-to's" on youtube and read the manual to figure out how to thread it. I cannot make more than two stiches before all of the thread binds up underneath the fabric and the thread coming through the needle is pulled out of the eye of the needle. I think it has something to do with the way the bobbin and the bobbin casing were put in. I had to adjust the tension screw on the bobbin and think that I might have put it back in wrong. I just noticed that the machine binds up in the same spot when I turn the hand wheel backwards. It only binds up for a second before continuing on but it comes to a complete stop every time. Has anyone had this problem before? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The machine is in great shape and I feel confident that it is just being threaded wrong. I've had similar problems when I run the thread through the wrong side after not sewing for a while. All of my machines have different orientations, and I inevitably forget. Art Report post Posted December 29, 2011 It is hard to see it in the pics, but lets take it from the top. The thread groove in the needle goes on the other side from the hook. The scarf (place where the hook passes) goes on the hook side. The upper thread goes from the thread groove side through the eye to the scarf (hook) side. So your machine threads inside to outside. Check the hook for burrs/roughness and smooth it out. Hold both threads for the first couple of stitches. Art Art is right, you thread a double needle from the inside to outside, and the needles have to be in the proper position. If you are used to a single needle machine you know how to install the needle with the thread groove, with a double machine the right needle is the same as on a single needle machine, but the left needle is put in opposite (thread groove) of the right needle. According to your third picture you have the left needle threaded wrong, the thread should enter the inside of the needle and exiting through the outside.
