Ostrich Leg And Caiman Lc9 Holster

Recommended Posts

Man ostrich leg makes a stiff holster. This thing is as stiff as a kydek holster. Its 8oz leather with the ostich and caiman on the front. The ostrich was a little tricky to dye but other than that it was not a problem at all. When first dying it was really dark and splotchy but it evened out and lightened up as it dryed.

Thanks for looking

CJ

That looks really nice. I just got some ostrich leg in and am getting ready to play around with it. Did you try applying any dye to the back of the hide to see if it would bleed through?

Thanks No I didnt dye the back. It was a yellowish color(buttercup from Springfield). I Dyed after molding with just a light coat of Feibings oil dark brown. It got really dark and splotchy. Thought I had ruined it and would have to dye it black to fix it but it completely lighted up and evened out. The mag pouch didnt even out as well but it was the first try on that pattern and it needs some adjusting.

Good luck with your ostrich. I think you will really like it.

I really like it! How thick would you say the ostrich and caiman were?

Thanks. I figured a pic would show the thickness better then i could tell ya. The bottom is 8/9oz leather. The brown middle is the caiman and the yellow top is the ostrich leg.
