oldtimer Report post Posted December 18, 2011 Thanks Oldtimer, so are they Padded or non-paddd slings? Do you use different leather for padded or non-padded slings? Thanks once again -Ij I make mostly unpadded slings , on the cobra slings I sew thin split leather to the back side to keep it from sliding off the shoulder. I try to keep the slings as light as possible so they won´t make the shooting unsteady if they swing from side to side. On my own hunting rifles I have a plain 1" sling, no fancy stuff, as I prefer function before beauty when hunting . / Knut

Thanks a lot on lining tip. Regards, Ij
Tree Reaper Report post Posted December 19, 2011 on the cobra slings I sew thin split leather to the back side to keep it from sliding off the shoulder./ Knut How does that work, with friction? I sewed a button on my jacket to keep the sling on my shoulder. Kevin.
BIGGUNDOCTOR Report post Posted December 21, 2011 Make sure that the leather grain is going the right direction so that the sling has minimal stretch . Look up Turner slings, he make slings for competition shooters, and has mentioned the part about choosing the right leather.
