Holsters For Ruger Lcp

A customer ordered two of these holsters. The weapon is a Ruger LCP .380 Automatic. I should have placed a coin in the photo for scale. These are small enough to be concealed in the palm of my hand. They are both hand sewn with a saddle stitch. The darker one is finished with Med-Brown Gel Antique and carnuba Wax the lighter one with Leather Glow and carnuba. The customer gave me a nylon "pocket Holster" that I tried to use as a pattern but ended up going back to basics with a pencil and a piece of paper to make the cutting pattern.

Thumb and finger kind of like a cell phone. They are not much bigger than that.

Your work looks very nice, and I don't want to discourage you, but I don't think that design is a good idea.

A person carries that type of gun for self defense, in which case they need to be able to deploy it very quickly, and have a solid shooting grip on it. A pocket holster that encloses the grip and has a retention strap prevents that several times over. The person would have to fish it out of the pocket, possibly switch hands, unsnap the strap, push their fingers into the pouch, pull the gun out, and THEN reposition the gun in their hand so they have a proper firing grip on it. All of that takes way more time than you would likely have, in a self defense situation.

interesting design. one thing i will say about this design it may help hide the gun in a sturdy way inside the pocket but will not help the person carrying when he needs the gun fast.

pulling the gun out for self defense using this style of holster will get the person killed.

interesting design but bad design for carrying for self defense. i hope you were just playing with different ideas to see what you can do.
