Members Svea Posted February 13, 2012 Members Report Posted February 13, 2012 Hi From NZ, I am looking for a good Stitching awl, To stitch saddlery and harness. What size would you recomend, maybe more than one? What brand? Does anyone know where I can buy one, that also will send it to nz. I am sick of these cheap multi tools that don't stay in the handle or slide around. I cant do a nice fim hole with them. Thanks for you help Svea Quote
King's X Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 Have you tried Joseph Dixon Tools in the UK? Bob Douglas through Sheridan Outfitters in Wyoming has probably the sharpest that I have seen to date. Sheridan Outfitters is a sponsor on this forum. You can also try Barry King Tools Good luck and welcome to the forum! Quote

Members Jax Posted May 13, 2012 Members Report Posted May 13, 2012 Hi Helene, when you find that perfect awl treasure it with your life, it will be worth it's weight in gold, they take alot of breaking in and getting used to, I have spent hours polishing some of mine on some very fine wet & dry emery paper then on leather. If you can get hold of an old 1 the metal will be much better. This is just my opinion others may disagree but so what lol. Quote
