Glad to have found this forum. Really impressed with all the great info and the talent . It is really kind of intimidating for someone just getting into working with leather. Just hope I am not to old to start another hobby. I see I have a lot to learn.

I have decided to concentrate on stiitching and molding first. I have a few tools someone gave me, that's what got me interested. My first question. I have decided to buy a gold card membership to either Tandy or Springfied Leather as a start. Which company would you recommend? I'm within driving distance from a Tandy, but I also liked the Springfield website.

Welcome to the forum. I have purchased from both. I really like the service at Springfield, but I am a touchy feely kind of guy, so I like to see what I am buying. Sometime with regrets, but this is just a hobby for me. Good luck.

Welcome, JaRay. If you're near a Tandy, definately start there. Where in PA are you? I'm just north of Philly, and I use both the Harrisburg and Allentown stores.Both are great, with helpful staff.

Timd I am 20 min east of Harrisburg, in Hummelstown PA. Actually I have been to the Tandy in Harrisburg and the staff was helpful. Do you think the Gold card membership is a good idea at Tandy. I can't remember if the store carried all the items listed in there catalog.

The gold card is well worth it. The Harrisburg store actually has more stuff than the catalog. If you don't see it in the store, ask Monica, she'll find it!

I'm just outside of Philly too. I go to the Allentown Tandy myself. I also am concentrating on stitching, moulding, and construction. I've been to Hummelstown a couple of time to go to the Indian Echo Cavern and I'm at Hershey a couple of times a year as well.

I go to both. It's Allentown and Cabela's, or Harrisburg and Bass Pro Shops. Either way, there's dinner at Shady Maple Smorgasbord.

LOL! I hit Shady Maple for breakfast mainly. I stop at Cabela's if I'm going to do the Yeungling brewery tour whenever I feel like a long drive and free beer.

Thanks so much for the welcome, I appreciate it. Small world, I live 2 mi from Indian Echo Caverns and have been to Cabela's. Bass Pro is 20 min away. been to Shady Maple a few times, good, but I can't eat that much. And I actually did the Yuenglin Brewery tour a long time ago.

Stitching, moulding and construction are also my main goal at this point. I doubt I'll have much to offer on forum but am looking forward to learning from all the talented people found here.
