Members Andrew Chee Posted March 1, 2012 Members Report Posted March 1, 2012 For all the folks here that have used Shell Cordovan for you products, do you guys put anything on the finished product as a finish or conditioner or do you tend to leave it as is? I'm making a wallet and I'm wondering if it is necessary or beneficial to put anything on it. Thanks. Andrew Quote
Moderator Art Posted March 1, 2012 Moderator Report Posted March 1, 2012 Andrew, Horween does a lot of work on the finishes. They rub or burnish finish into the shell, so I don't think much is necessary. I use Leather Balm with Atom Wax and buff it up. My piece was looking a little dull after I was finished but the leather balm made everything shinier. I have to say, leather balm is some kinda black manic. Makes things nice and shiny. Andrew Quote
Members mnagis Posted March 27, 2012 Members Report Posted March 27, 2012 Also regarding shell from horween, I recently made a wallet that mistakenly got slightly wet which not only dulled that portion of the wallet, but also put a hell of a stain into my wood coffee table. I then treated the wallet with saddle soap, which only uniformly dulled the leather and left a soft cloth completly black. Is there something that I need to put on the leather after I get it from Horween to prevent it from doing this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark Quote
