Members elkhoonter Posted March 15, 2012 Members Report Posted March 15, 2012 Hi all, I'm new to the site, and probably have a different interest than most. I'm looking to sew bear rugs, and can't find a whole lot of information on that topic anywhere else, and my searches kept bringing me here. As far as leather goes, it's probably not as thick as much of what many of you are working with, but I do need to sew up to six layers of felt (two layers, pleated) onto it. I'm guessing that my machine needs are similar to what many of you also need. Would appreciate any comments/thoughts on that. I'm currently considering a Singer 111wsv71, but I believe it's only needle-fed, not a walking foot. There's precious little information available on them as far as I can tell. I've asked for more photos/info from the seller, but still waiting (and not sure he knows the difference). If anyone has any knowledge of this particular machine and its suitability, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! Quote
Techsew Ron Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 We have a few customers sewing bear rugs and they use a flatbed walking foot machine. You'll want a walking foot with needle feed in order to sew multiple layers and keep them from slipping. Ron Quote
