Members Mudruck Posted April 3, 2012 Members Report Posted April 3, 2012 Looking at some 4 cord cotton thread and wondering if it would be acceptable for hand sewing leather stuff. How does cotton hold up? Does it wear and hold like linen? I mostly do holsters and like items, so the 4 cord might be a little light, but Im not too familiar with thread. Quote

From the old grumpy guy; IMO cotton is not strong enough nor is it nearly as resistant to moisture, oils etc., as is linen. In other words, it'll either wear through or rot pretty darned quickly, if it doesn't break while stitching with it. Mike Quote

Mike Sounds good... yea, i don't want crappy thread to wear out fast and give problems that could have been prevented easily by using proper thread. Quote
Members Kevin Posted April 4, 2012 Members Report Posted April 4, 2012 Ditto on Katsass, no good. It's probably too old anyway. Kevin Quote
