Nikki Report post Posted April 16, 2012 Hi everyone, I'm new to this website and just getting back into leatherwork. I'd like to make a few bronc halter nosebands, but cannot seem to find a pattern anywhere! Would anyone happen to have one they would like to share? I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks Nikki
DoubleC Report post Posted April 16, 2012 Hi everyone, I'm new to this website and just getting back into leatherwork. I'd like to make a few bronc halter nosebands, but cannot seem to find a pattern anywhere! Would anyone happen to have one they would like to share? I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks Nikki Hi Nikki. I made a bronc nose band on a rope halter I made just for fun really. I just cut the leather in the shape I wanted, I didn't have a pattern. I've never seen patterns for them because basically someone using these for decoration is still a pretty new fad. But I imagine someone will come up with a pattern before long. Thing is they aren't all the same. Pick something that's shaped like you want your nose band, or draw one on cardboard, something like that and then use your stylus to trace around it on leather. I'm putting a picture of mine up and you can use that for an example if you want. I just measured between the knots on the rope halter and cut it so it would fit inside the knots. I laced a softer piece of leather to it for the back where it touches the horse. It can be sewn, used on nylon halters, they do all kind of things with these. I drew the picture looking at the one posted I found on the internet.

Egraham Report post Posted April 20, 2012 You could buy a cheap one and take it apart to get a pattern if you needed to. I make my all own so I can be creative with them.. and also so I can make differnt styles. l"m not a huge fan of the really thick ones,, Ive seen people making them 4"-5" wide & they swallow up the horses face. I try to stay around 3" wide, and for the legnth just measure the nose off a halter you have laying around. They are really pretty simple..
