MathiasKyne Report post Posted April 17, 2012 (edited) I'm attempting to make a set of spaulders like the set in the link below. http://www.armourarc...aulders_sinric/ I'm wondering what sort of technique I should use to get the round upper piece if possible. douglais Report post Posted April 18, 2012 Ypu'll need to use the cuir bouilli technique of immersing the leather in hot water, at 175 degrees, for about 90 seconds, then throwing it on your mold. while it's still rubbery. Alternatively, some people like to soak the leather in tepid water, then form it as best they can, then bake it in an oven at 200 degrees for maybe a half hour. If you're interested, there is plenty of info out there on the technique. Armour Archive has a very thorough discussion on their forums. insanityprelude Report post Posted April 23, 2012 I had a go at a similar pattern and although i didn't do it at the time if i were to make more i could do as douglais has said with cuir bouilli. Make a wooden mold up, cut the leather larger than you need it, stretch it over then tack it down (where it won't show, another reason to cut it larger) and cut it to size once dry. Hope it helps
