Phatdaddy Posted April 20, 2012 Report Posted April 20, 2012 I picked one of these up on last months sale. The shoulder is very nice surprisingly and I decided to buy one. I immediately noticed there is a creamish colored coating on the flesh side. The TLF worker suggested she was told it had something to do with helping to make a better impression. If anyone can confirm that would be great, however my main concern is 2 things... 1. Will the coating accept dye properly 2. I plan to use it for belts is there any risk of this stuff coming off and transferring to clothing? Anyone have the details on this stuff? Kevin Quote

Kevin I looked at the same shoulders at the TLF store, manager at the store told me it won't take dye, but was meant to use for belts-he said he tried to take the coating off with deglazer and it wouldn't come off-mind you, this is not personal experience, just relating what he told me. Members JWGlover Posted April 20, 2012 Members Report Posted April 20, 2012 I bought one too to use for small stuff and was worried about the same thing so I just took that stuff off with a belt sander. Quote
Members RonDrake Posted April 20, 2012 Members Report Posted April 20, 2012 my local tandy shop said they were trying a new leather supplier. i tried it and managed to get a refund and will not use it again. it will flake off and crack on the flesh side. Quote
