  1. I order from SLC, and since I'm selling my holsters , I buy the Herman Oak belt bends . Beautiful leather, much nicer than Tandys Euro bends, and I've never gotten a bad one. Alittle spendy , but I can usually get between 10-12 holsters per bend, and I ain't worrying about quality.
  2. Beautiful. Period. Simple and clean is one of the hardest designs to execute and you nailed it.
  3. the level of detail increases exponentially with the weight of the leather..6/7 oz shows more detail and molds much easier than 8/9 oz. Start lining your holsters and the mold ing details on the exterior start to diminish rapidly.
  4. beautiful work ! I get customers that send 35 emails about 1 65.00 holster...
  5. Nice Job! the elephant is very classy without being overwhelming like some exotics.
  6. I use 1/2" steel plates, work great. they work well for clicking as well, with a cutting board of course
  7. Red Guns arent too bad but be careful, I have one labeled Kahr 9, its a good fit for a K9- how long is it taking to get your molds? I've been buying mine from Rob, week to 10 days generally if he doesnt have it in stock, 3 if he does.
  8. Very nice! both the holster and your photo. i need to work on my photos... http://northstarholsters.com
  9. I have clicker dies for all my IWBs, I have several sizes that i can use for a wide variety of guns. I can modify the pattern after I click it out, to suit the gun.
  10. thanks guys for the kind words- SooperJake, the dye is Feibings Professional oil dye, "Show Brown", everything dyed, applied with a piece of sheepskin, prior to assembly and allowed to dry several days before assembly and stitching. Finish is diluted Tan Kote.. The entire rig is double layer 6/7 oz HO, including the holster. Cartridge loops were woven into the outer belt layer before assembly. It was a fun build and would love to do more. Not too many cowboys in central Minnesota, although there are some CAS shooters here. Thanks again!
  11. My second attempt at a cowboy rig, for my own use[attachment =74243:P1010049resized.jpg]
  12. kinda hard to answer w/o seeing the pattern-I do think 7/8 0z HO is a little heavy for the strap.
  13. I use a slot die from Texas Custom Dies,1 5/8" x 5/16, and an arbor press like renegadelizard- put a little saddle soap on the die, slides right through
  14. Best suggestion I can give you-do a search on this forum for tippman boss-lots of discussions. Once you get your Boss figured out, they work great. Lots of good tips on here.
  15. I really like your carving style. I rarely see carving I really the like, but yours is very clean. I also like the finger cut style, so I guess I kinda like "less is more". The large background areas and clean uncluttered look seem more difficult to execute than a busier style with more elements to it . Well done.
  16. What Craig said. Also the instant gratification on the part of the buyer, being able to sneak that on to his credit card, whereas if he had to send you a check or MO, might not buy from you at all. All payment processing company charges you, if you had to deal strictly cash/check you wouldn't sell enough to eat at McDonalds once a month.
  17. I had similar issues as wijjit. Watch your needle as it descends, see if it hits the hook /shuttle assembly. Make sure you have it timed as described in the instruction book and videos. Some Boss were machined wrong, the shoulder the shuttle spacer rides against is not deep enough and causes the needle to rub the shuttle , fraying and breaking thread and causing timing nightmares.. I know, I have one, and Tipmann( I think it was Ben) confirmed, and even told me he had built a jig for his drill press that would allow him to machine the shoulder to the correct depth. So apparently not an uncommon issue. Wanted something like 75.00 and shipping both ways to fix it. So probably around 125.00 to fix including the shipping both ways.I was irritated that they would charge me for what seems on the surface to be a factory QC issue. I ordered a couple new shuttle spacers and ground one thinner, worked like a charm.
  18. Check Springfield Leather, they have a number of colors in the Pro Oil dye, beyond what you usually see.
  19. For future reference, Try RMB Leather-the Bluegun Store, a forum member and supporter. Rob is conscientious, quick to ship and to add icing to the cake, special orders his inventory, to be shipped without the final coat of blue finish, which is present on everyone else's blueguns and comes off on your leather unless you strip it off first. I order exclusively from Rob ,have for the last year ,maybe, and am totally satisfied. Only had one glitch with an order, and Rob dealt with it quickly and fairly. Don't even think about ordering from anyone else!!!
  20. Does anyone have dimensions for Kahr 9mm mag, ordered blue gun mag recently but the order got mixed up and now I have a customer thats been waiting for some time for a mag pouch,. I've even looked locally for the actual mag and no luck. I have 9mm double stack mags but no single stack. If anyone has the dimensions I would be grateful.
