chancey77 Report post Posted May 12, 2012 (edited) I started a small bag today for the rear left side. Very simple and I wrote down all the measurements in mm and cm. I did cut down the 9.5cm width to 8.6cm/86mm to account for the thickness of the leather. He only wanted it no more than 10cm, so it is just under that width. But do it how you like, and if you want it for the right side, just make it the opposite, this will attach where the chain cover bolts are. VERY SIMPLE DESIGN! Cyberthrasher Report post Posted May 12, 2012 Dude, you're destroying all my excuses for not getting started on my solo bag yet!! Now all you gotta do is come up with the artwork for me I say we get this pinned since it has good patterns with measurements.

Now all you gotta do is come up with the artwork for me I say we get this pinned since it has good patterns with measurements. I just started the art work, trying a free hand approach to a tribal Polynesian, mayan kind of look. Kind of like a Maori Tattoo. It isn't perfect, but this is the front under the flap. I will take more time to plan out the front. I just went straight at it with the knife, no drawing, or pre scribed lines, just a ruler and the SW.KFE. I think it is a good simple design and the lay out is all mapped out. It was very easy to come up with, and like a good song sometimes the thing that only takes 10 minuets to write is a hit:) hahahah

Dirtdigger Report post Posted May 14, 2012 That tribal kind of pattern looks great! Is this "Tikkimies" belt another project, or part of this one?
chancey77 Report post Posted May 14, 2012 That tribal kind of pattern looks great! Is this "Tikkimies" belt another project, or part of this one? Tikkimies means Stitch Man in Finish (Suomi)...it is my clients business name, and it is the sides of the bag. He has a Patch company that makes all the patches for all the bike clubs here in Finland. And has his own crew of 51 members as well.
Dirtdigger Report post Posted May 14, 2012 (edited) So the sides will be black leather and the front, back and bottom will be natural leather color? Sounds cool! Edited May 14, 2012 by Dirtdigger
chancey77 Report post Posted May 14, 2012 So the sides will be black leather and the front, back and bottom will be natural leather color? Sounds cool! I wish it was all natural but no, they will all be black, I just have to finish the tooling and designs on the sides and then they will go black. Cyberthrasher Report post Posted May 15, 2012 Hows your seat coming along? Took a break while I debate on whether or not to wait on 5/7 oz for the sides. Thinking 8/9 might be pretty hard to form around some of those curves. Also need some more cash flow to get the 1/4 lace I need and I'm being indecisive about whether or not to background the whole thing or not (most likely not). You know, just being OCD. Think I'm going to start my buddy's wallet tonight.

jayjay Report post Posted May 21, 2012 Bag looks awesome I love the design I'm in the process of doing a single saddle bag for a swing arm frame. I love the lettering and i have a question for you.....Do you cut the letters like normal then add an additional cut outside and back ground between them? or is that just the beveller? The lettering is great!!! LOL I know, I would do something different color wise if it was my bike, but it is a clients, and he is old school all black and chrome:) All that is left to do now is Lace it and put on the buckles and straps. ironhead13 Report post Posted May 21, 2012 cool. Been thinking about making a new/better one for myself. no lacing though...I enjoy the whole saddle stitch deal so much more than lace. Speaking of lace, what do you use?
chancey77 Report post Posted May 22, 2012 Do you cut the letters like normal then add an additional cut outside and back ground between them? or is that just the beveller? The lettering is great!!! I just cut the letters and then went around them with the backgrounder. I did not use the beveler on the letters at all. 3/16 Lace Ironhead:) Not that garbage from Tandy, but some good quality lace from my local leather supplier. It comes in 50 meter (164 ft: for you:)rolls and is tuff as nails, it takes about 30 lbs of pressure to break it. It costs 27€ per roll. 34 US DOLLARS.
