Happy Hooligan Report post Posted May 21, 2012 Hi everyone, I just picked up my first 31 series singer. A 31-20 to be exact so I'm excited about that as it's the heavy duty 31 singer. I just got it all oiled up and spinning correctly, I was able to have the needle grab the bottom thread so I think it's timed right, but I noticed the feed dogs don't push the material through. I then adjusted the feed dogs so they're at their highest point , but it just seems the move up and down and not with a front to back motion. Any thoughts on how to fix this? The machine looks very well cared for and came with a ton of extras but it sat for the last few years....
Luke Hatley Report post Posted May 21, 2012 One simple thing is to check the stich length..Hope this is the problem.
Happy Hooligan Report post Posted May 21, 2012 I will try that. I didn't mess with the stitch length. The machine looks really well loved so I doubt there is anything major.
Luke Hatley Report post Posted May 21, 2012 I meant to say the Stich Length adj Lever.
Happy Hooligan Report post Posted May 21, 2012 fixed it! It was all the way at the top. Never even looked at that yet. Now I noticed the bottom tension is all bunched up so that's my next fix but should just be an easy one... Thanks for the advice!
