CTK Report post Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) Just want to say hello and thanks for having me. I'm not a leather worker myself (have tried, but truly suck), but my late Grandfather was pretty well-known for it around my town for a lot of years. He was a true cowboy and owned his own supply and repair shop in a neighboring town about a half an hour up the road. He was born in 1907 and I know he was doing this kind of work at least by the 40's. By time I got to know him in the 80's he was out of the business, but still piddled around a good bit in his shop. Anyways, I ran into an old friend of his the other day who still does leather work and he asked me about an old sewing machine my Grandpa used to use. I didn't know anything about it, but told him we could go look for it. The estate is near 15 years old and has never been settled. So tons of stuff is just sitting in his old shop untouched. Anyways, we pulled it out and the guy was interested in buying so I'm here to try and find out what I can about it and also to look around. I've always been intrigued by the trade, but like I said- I suck at sewing. I'll ask my question in the appropriate section, but I figured it was only proper I introduced myself. Thanks for having me and I can't wait to look around! Brian Edited July 16, 2012 by CTK
benlilly1 Report post Posted July 17, 2012 Welcome Brian, Wow, I think I want to go look around your Grandfather's shop too! Are you planning on selling any of his leather work tools? This would be a good place to do it!
