J Hayes Report post Posted July 17, 2012 (edited) Just trying to perfect a pattern and was wondering if this looks ok or if I should move the stitch line closer. Any thoughts or critizism are welcome. S&W J frame, horsehide and Barbour's 7 cord. Thanks Jeremy Edited July 17, 2012 by J Hayes
SooperJake Report post Posted July 17, 2012 (edited) For visual consistency I'd tighten up the middle section, and a little bit along the barrel. Retention is most paramount, followed by aesthetics. At least that's what I have learned from this forum and elsewhere. I've been studying lots of websites for just this sort of thing. You can find website links on people's posts here in the holster section of the forum. Jake Edited July 17, 2012 by SooperJake

S&W J frame, horsehide and Barbour's 7 cord. Thanks Jeremy From the old grump: Seems to be OK along the top strap but needs to contour more around the trigger guard and especially at the front of the frame. As it sits, I would expect to see the gun start to sag on down into the holster as far as the frame will go toward the existing stitch line. Mike. renegadelizard Report post Posted July 19, 2012 i noticed the t nuts on this...is it going to be an inside the waist band?...if so, i think i might keep it loose...too snug, add a belt, and it aint coming out...if its a snap on, your gonna have to stretch it real good to get it in... Yes it is an IWB, hopefully it won't be too tight, but I'll have to stitch it to find out. Kinda wish I had a machine just to do patterns, I'm not real fast at hand stitching. My personal carry rig is almost identical to the posted one, it holds pretty good but I do wish it was a bit tighter. I guess I'm chasing perfection, I'll never catch it but I can make it look better than it does. I want to mimic the lines closely, and I like to bone the detail in, even though nobody sees it. The ones I've done for a G23 and 1911 Commander were much easier to get the lines tight, all IWB. Jeremy
