ItsJustNC Report post Posted July 25, 2012 Hey guys, I've always been more partial to items that are built with a more rigid construction, so i often find my scrap bin full of belly hides. Not wanting to waste them, i was wondering, what are some of the things that you guys make out of them...?
Chief31794 Report post Posted July 25, 2012 I use bellies at 4/5 oz for checkbook covers, wallets, money clips (Magnetic), Bible Covers, etc. I only use Hermann Oak but it gives the item a better hand and feel than stiffer leather (My Opinion). with 5/6 oz I make guitar, banjo, dobro and mandolin straps same reason, they really drape well feel good on the shoulder, etc. Can also use them for knife sheaths, phone cases, ipad covers, etc. You can use either one for belts by laminating them back to back to make them into 8/10 oz or 10/12 oz pieces then stripping them out to 1-1/2" if they're long enough. Try some it's better than just leaving it around and throwing it away. The list is pretty long of what you can do with them. Ken
ItsJustNC Report post Posted July 25, 2012 Sounds like a plan Ken, thank you for your suggestions.! I should try lining ti and double plying it to reduce the stretchiness..! Other suggestions still welcomed..! Some pictures would be perfect.! Would love to see what are some of the other things you guys do..!
Jazznow Report post Posted July 25, 2012 Bellys are good for anything that needs to be wet formed, because the structure of the skin s not as denser than on shoulder or back, hence it stretches better over a form. Wet formed zippo holders can be made out of small pieces. Greetingsjonathan

Denster Report post Posted July 25, 2012 In the heavier weights ie: 8/9 and 9/10 they are great for butt stock shell holders.
