Members dragonspit Posted August 2, 2012 Author Members Report Posted August 2, 2012 Bob, One thing I forgot to mention is you really need some forward pegs or what some call highway pegs on your GW. I have them on my Road King, mounted to the engine guard or crash bars. There are some really nice ones for GW's that are adjustable. 99% of my riding I have one or both feet on my highway pegs. Along with a backrest, which is another must for long hauls, it's like riding in your recliner. If you get your feet up and legs out, you'll be surprised at how much better you'll like the stock seat. This is something like I'm talking about. https://www.denniski....prd/496289.sku These are really nice and look like they're made for the GW. If this is your first GW, check out one of the GW forums. Try the Delphi Forums. Yeah, I have a pair of Kuryakyn hgwy pegs and have adjusted them all sorts of ways. the issue with those is, you have to get your feet way out past the fairing. Now, Im 5-9 +, not short, but not tall, and let me tell you, that is stretch. its almost as hard to reach the damn things as not lol. and you have to twist your knee around the edge of the fairing ( I have a 1500) and thats where my hurts are. you can also get floorboards as well, but there is only like 2" available from the exist peg position, and the engine. I know they have to relocate brakes and shifter but Im thinking, where the heck to? maybe a heel toe shifter. a lot of GW folks dont like em. I loved mine. so I may have to spring for a set, but again, not cheap either. Wings are kinda like harleys, you want something, we got it,,,,how much money you got left in your pocket? and I hear floorboards make real difficult to flat foot. my pegs as they are dig into my ankle when Im not wearing riding boots. but if you dont, I swear its just gonna fall right over. never dropped any of my 20 bikes, including my hd/s, Ive dropped this th ing twice already. geeze. I used to love my floorboards on my heritage springer classic (shoulda never let that bike go). but the hd is skinnier, waaaaay skinnier, so its a lot more relaxed. I am a memeber on the GW forums, thats where Im getting the seat. gotta a buddy gonna send me one for zip, just mailing cost.....thats a reeeeall good price. lol. im goint to take before pics tonight so I havethem. he just emailed me and said seat will be on its way tomorrow or so. Im 80%confident I can get this under control. but ya know, moving back to an hd, or maybe a victory, aint the end of the world either Quote

Members bustedlifter Posted August 4, 2012 Members Report Posted August 4, 2012 Thanks for the kind words Bobby. Yeah, I just use the inner tube but sometimes I put some foam around it to give it an even appearance. I ride a stroker Shovel in a rigid frame with a sprung solo and having that tube in the seat helps tremendously. There's nothing like riding on air. You can pick up different size tubes on the cheap and fool around with them on your seat pan and see what you come up with. Just make sure you can get to the stem to adjust the pressure. Quote
